ABOUT

Kristy Makowichuk, MA, LPC, LMHC, NCC, is a licensed therapist based in Lake Oswego - here to guide you through life’s most complex and difficult matters. She truly cares about her patients’ well-being. She provides quality and timely counseling and psychological services catered to your needs. 

 

Ms. Makowichuk provides specialized therapeutic services to adults who are dealing with challenging life experiences, managing stressors, anxiety, depression, grief & loss, trauma, life transitions & adjustments, suicide prevention, intervention & postvention.

For 18 years, Ms. Makowichuk has worked extensively alongside individuals, families and children in mental health, trauma, crisis, adverse childhood experiences including child abuse and neglect in addition to accessing and advocating IEP services for children's learning needs. She has served in child & adult protective services working with chemical dependency, navigating legal issues, drug court with adults and juvenile court with adolescents. Ms. Makowichuk has also served as a Behavioral Health Consultant within a family medicine physician practice as a mental health consultant to physicians. While also providing patients with counseling services to support their physical and mental healthcare needs.

Ms. Makowichuk is a graduate of Lewis and Clark Graduate School for Education & Counseling. She holds a Master's in Professional Mental Health Counseling. As a member of the American Counseling Association and a Oregon Licensed Professional Counselor, as well as a Washington Licensed Mental Health Counselor; she adheres to the Professional Standards & Code of Ethics. As a Nationally Board Certified Counselor, Ms. Makowichuk has met the high national standards for education, experience and training.​ She is a member of Oregon Counseling Association for Professional Counselors. Ms. Makowichuk is a former board member with the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, Oregon Chapter.

In her spare time, she enjoys nearly any outdoor activity; hiking, cycling, kayaking, snowshoeing and skiing are among her favorite. Ms. Makowichuk also practices yoga; she has travelled internationally to participate in yoga retreats as well as studying culture, medicine and mental health practices through a social justice informed lens.
